Statement by H.E. Shaikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States of America
WASHINGTON, Aug. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With our deepest and most sincere sympathy, we offer our condolences to the family, friends and the United States' people over the murder of the American Journalist James Foley by ISIL in Syria.
The heinous massacres and mass executions conducted by ISIL is contrary to the sacred teachings of Islam, a religion of peace, tolerance and love, but rather reflects a vicious will to sabotage regional and international security.
This reminds us all that terrorism remains our number one enemy, thriving in turbulent regions that lack institutionalized governments and solid policies to extract this evil.
While the international community remained silent, terroristic groups have been flourishing and multiplying, and we need to realize that ISIL is not our only threat in the region.
In order to move forward we must accept the fact that silence and failure to take action at the first glimpse of threat has an expensive price at the end, a price paid by the blood of the innocent and a significant burden shared by us all.
It is indeed a sad reality and a huge disappointment in terms of international cooperation in the face of regional and international threats.
