Major Victory For Working Families
HARRISBURG, Pa., June 29, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United States Supreme Court took a bold stand for fairness and justice for all. As the ultimate arbitrator of a critically important issue, the Supreme Court sided with the American people and upheld the Affordable Care Act.
Because of their historic decision, 33 million Americans will have health insurance that had no access to it before Obamacare became law. Young adults will continue to have the option of being covered on their parent's health insurance until the age of 26. People with pre-existing conditions will not be barred from access to health insurance because of health conditions they did not choose and cannot lose. People with private insurance will be assured that 80% of their premiums will go to health care and not to corporate profits. Over the next few years these benefits and many others will be fully implemented and the American people will enjoy unprecedented access to health care.
The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO applauds today's Supreme Court decision and extends our deepest gratitude to the five Justices who stood with America's
