STEM Nonprofit GenYES adds CB Technologies' Founder and CEO to Board of Directors
Tech CEO, investor, advisor and philanthropist Kelly Ireland joins Generation YES to support the next generation of technology leaders
KIRKLAND, Wash., Nov. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Generation YES, the education nonprofit that empowers underserved students to become technology leaders, adds IT industry powerhouse Kelly Ireland to its Board of Directors. Kelly joins Founder and CEO Dennis Harper and fellow Board Members: Patrick Gill, Nick Lippert, Victoria Bawn, Denny Hurtado and Emily McCartan to help kids navigate careers in tech.
Kelly Ireland has been involved in the IT industry since 1976, when she taught herself computer programming. Kelly launched CB Technologies in 2001 from her spare bedroom. Generation YES is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) that prepares teams of Student Technology Leaders (STLs) in grades 4-12 to provide professional development and IT support to educators and IT staff. By providing this cost-effective support, these students are participating in real-world experiences that develop the lifelong learning and people skills necessary to succeed in college and careers. Technology skills (e.g. coding, graphic design, etc.) are necessary but not the only skills needed to ensure students are prepared for the 21st century workplace.
