Ani-gram-It, creator of physical and digital toys that encourage kids to enjoy science and nature launches a Kickstarter campaign this week for a revolutionary new board game. Ani-Gram-It™ is the first STEM to STEAM board game of its kind, designed by a RISD Sculpture graduate.

Ani-Gram-It™ was created by Alex Wolf, a New York designer and artist, who combines color and beauty to the science of the game. Dr. Vijal Parikh, D.O. is a Cornell graduate and medical resident in Psychiatry and is overseeing PhD and scientific verification for the games. Parikh has a background in neurobiology and behavior, and has a deep interest in child development and learning. The result is a product that is smart, beautiful, and mindfully designed, besides being fun.
Ani-Gram-It™ is a gorgeously designed board game intended to teach kids how to identify animals based on their anatomy while engaged in play. Each move requires the player to know the animal they make as their move. Ani-gram-it™ is offered in a boxed board game set as well as two to-go versions – tiles and mini cards.
STEM to STEAM is a RISD-led initiative, spearheaded by president John Maeda, to include art, design and visualization tools in the national agenda of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education and research in the United States. STEM + ART = STEAM.
The concept of the game and the business of selling STEAM based toys and games and apps was vetted when it was accepted to the prestigious Columbia Business School accelerator program for innovation and entrepreneurship. One hundred teams applied for thirteen spots in the program and ten teams completed. The popularity of STEM-STEAM initiatives gave Ani-gram-it™ 's digital sister app a competitive edge in the selection process.
You can support the Ani-Gram-It™ campaign through Kickstarter from now until November 6, 2013. The game is planned to ship for Christmas. The campaign offers a "buy-one, give-one" option, which is a great way to get one for your home and donate one to your local school.
