WOODBURY, N.Y., Sept. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sterling & Sterling, Inc., a top 40 privately owned insurance agency, is pleased to announce the addition of Joseph Santospirito as President of its newly created Sterling Construction Services of New York unit effective September 4, 2012. In addition, Carmine D'Angelo has also joined Sterling Construction Services of New York as Vice President, Account Executive reporting to Santospirito. D'Angelo has been involved in the construction insurance arena for 25 years most recently as Assistant Vice President at USI.

In his new role, Santospirito will report directly to Sterling's President, Leslie Nylund, and work to broaden Sterling's existing construction practice in conjunction with their newly formed SterlingHyde joint venture for surety. Sterling Construction Services will focus on the placement of multi-million dollar construction insurance programs and will look to capitalize on the improving economy and the revitalization of building and infrastructure throughout the United States.

Santospirito has been in the insurance business for over 25 years most recently as Senior Vice President leading the Construction Practice Group at USI Insurance Services for the Northeast. His added expertise will expand Sterling's capabilities in the construction arena further enabling them to provide full service insurance solutions for their construction clients and prospects
