Sterling Bank Awards Grants to 28 Texas School Programs
HOUSTON, Nov. 23, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Sterling Bank has awarded grants to 28 programs in underprivileged schools in the metropolitan areas of Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio as part of its annual Thanksgiving Grant program.
In the last five years, Sterling has awarded Thanksgiving Grants in honor of its employees who are active in their communities. The total amount of the grants in Texas was doubled this year to $10,000.
In Dallas, the following programs were awarded Sterling Bank grants:

- Listening Center, Winnetka Elementary School
- Oh, The Places You'll Go! -- Dr. Seuss
- Getting Back to Healthy: Growing Organic vs. Non Organic, L V Stockard Middle School
- Outfitting Our New Science Lab!, Kipp Truth Academy
- Writer's Workshop, W H Gaston Middle School
The Houston programs that received grants were:
- Math You Can Touch, Windsor Village Elementary

- Anchoring our Understanding, Bonner Elementary School
- Sight Word Success, Pilgrim Academy
- Investigative Journalists in the Making!, Kipp Academy

- Science by the Book, Macario Garcia Elementary School
- Laptop for Algebra II Webquest Part 3, KIPP Houston High School
- Ongoing Competitive Learning, Dowling Middle School
