Steve and Marjorie Harvey Bring Sherri Shepherd Among Other Influential Women Together in Their Mission to Mentor 100 Teenage Girls in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- A team of inspirational women join The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation to host the first-annual Girls Who Rule the World ("GWRTW") Mentoring Weekend, dedicated to help teenage girls from diverse backgrounds successfully navigate the pressures and pitfalls of teenage life.

On October 22-24, 100 teenage girls will gather with Marjorie Harvey, The View co-host, Sherri Shepherd, and other trusted female business leaders and entertainers - including singer Keri Hilson, actress Terri Vaughn, Essence magazine's Mikki Taylor, and CBS News Correspondent Shannon Eis - at the Omni CNN Center in Atlanta, GA for three-days of interactive seminars designed to motivate girls, and equip them with resources and education needed to be successful. The weekend experience is supported by State Farm® as part of its commitment to supporting the future of American's youth.

GWRTW speakers and workshops will focus on increasing self-reliance and high esteem.   By being exposed to such leaders as Rosalind Brewer (Executive Vice President, Wal-Mart U.S. and President, Wal-Mart Stores South) and Brenda Freeman (Chief Marketing Officer, Turner Broadcasting), girls will learn the importance of making healthy decisions to follow in the footsteps of these role models. Specifically, attendees will learn about professional etiquette, appropriate dress, and even making the right sexual choices that decrease health risks. On that note, they'll be prompted to sustain a healthy dialogue with parents and guardians.
