Steve Bumbry Named to Lead The St. James Baseball Academy

Former Baltimore Orioles player brings professional experience and player development expertise to The St. James Performance Academy

SPRINGFIELD, Va., Feb. 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The St. James Performance Academy is proud to announce that Steve Bumbry current Director of Diamond Sports is now also overseeing Academy teams. A former Baltimore Orioles player and son of Orioles legend Al Bumbry, Steve brings professional experience, a strong coaching network, and a passion for player development to The St. James.

During his time playing professionally for the Orioles organization, Bumbry earned a reputation for leadership and baseball knowledge. After injuries cut his career short, he remained dedicated to the sport, building a strong network of MLB and MiLB professionals who endorse his coaching expertise.

As part of this expansion, The St. James Performance Academy will introduce elementary, middle school, high school and post-graduate baseball teams, providing athletes with competitive opportunities at the appropriate level while developing their skills. These teams will compete in regional and national tournaments, preparing players for the next stage of their athletic careers through elite coaching, strength and conditioning, and high-level gameplay.

The St. James Baseball Program prepares high school and post-graduate athletes for collegiate and professional competition, focusing on technical skill-building, strategic gameplay, and total athlete development. Key features include:

• State-of-the-art facilities, including an 8,000 square ft. all-turf indoor Hitting House
• Six baseball and softball pitching and hitting tunnels with Hack Attack Machines
• Comprehensive training in strength & conditioning, recovery, and nutrition
