
Stroz Friedberg Appoints Stephen D. Whetstone Global Lead of Data Discovery Practice
Former Pitney Bowes, Skadden executive brings unique legal and business technology background to Managing Director role
NEW YORK, Dec. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Stroz Friedberg LLC, a global investigations, intelligence, and risk management company, announced that Stephen D. Whetstone has joined as Managing Director and global lead of the firm's Data Discovery practice. He is based in the Boston office.
During 22 years of combined experience in the legal, business and technology arenas, Whetstone has supported and counseled Global 1000 companies and AmLaw100 firms on complex electronic discovery and litigation challenges. Most recently, he was Vice President and Leader of Document Management Solutions and Legal Solutions at Pitney Bowes, the client service units responsible for processing, managing, and storing high-volume client data for litigation, compliance and other business purposes.
Previously, Whetstone was with cloud-based eDiscovery technology and services provider Iron Mountain Legal Discovery (formerly Stratify Inc.), most recently as General Manager of the global business. During his tenure, he led the company's Records and Information Consulting practice and Stratify's Client Development, Strategy and Services teams. He also opened and led its Boston and London offices.

He started his legal career as a litigator at Skadden, where he focused on securities class action pre-trial and trial work, as well as electronic and hard copy document review. He was also an equity partner and litigator at Testa Hurwitz for 11 years, representing clients in securities class actions, government and internal investigations and other complex litigations, trials and arbitrations.
Whetstone has written many papers on best practices for legal discovery and technology developments, appearing in prominent publications including the National Law Journal, Bloomberg Law, Legal Times, IP Litigator and many others. He earned a B.A. from Bates College and a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law.
