WHIPPANY, N.J., Oct. 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Students 2 Science (S2S) – a New Jersey-based STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) non-profit -- hosted STEM industry leaders, foundations, community leaders, and school partners to celebrate the grand opening of the Apollo Technology Center on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Just days later, the organization welcomed the first students into the Technology Center for a full day of STEM learning.
The Apollo Technology Center, located at One Apollo Drive, Whippany, N.J., will significantly expand STEM access for all students across the state and provide hands-on experiences using state-of-the-art lab instrumentation found in today's professional laboratory settings. The Center will include dedicated lab space for the new elementary school Improving Student Affinity and Aptitude for Careers in STEM (ISAAC) program (Grades 3 - 5) and a state-of-the art production studio for the expanded Virtual Lab (V - Lab) Program (Grades 3 - 12). The Center will also offer expanded programming for Middle School STEM ISAAC Days (Grades 6 - 8), High school Career ISAAC Days (Grades 9 - 12), and host a new STEM Summer Camp in the Summer of 2026. S2S will also launch a new Educator Professional Development Program designed to upskill current K - 12 teachers and support development of laboratory fundamentals for new teachers just starting their careers.
"This venture was a community effort. The S2S community of champions came together to fund the project, outfit the Center with cutting edge instrumentation and furnishings, and provided services to complete construction and get our laboratories operating. We could not have accomplished this amazing feat without everyone coming together. We look forward to serving over 100,000 students annually," said Paul A. Winslow, President and Co-Founder of Students 2 Science.
By expanding these cutting-edge STEM programs, the Apollo Technology Center will allow S2S to continue to create transformative learning experiences that go beyond the classroom. The community of funders who helped this project come to fruition includes several prominent STEM corporations who have been ardent supporters of S2S' efforts for over a decade.
- By providing instrumentation, along with the installation and training, Thermo Fisher Scientific, the world leader in serving science, sponsored the ISAAC Laboratories, which feature eight distinct laboratories for student learning.
- The PSEG Foundation sponsored the exploration and creation of new curriculum, including the expansion of programs for students in grades 3-6.
- Sponsored by Sanofi, the Sanofi Workforce Training & Development Lab will allow students and community members to expand their academic horizons, engage in experiences that mirror real-world applications, and shape the future of STEM industries.
"The Apollo Technology Center is more than a building—it's a promise of STEM opportunity made possible by our partners and community. As we welcome the first students, we are turning possibility into practice with real labs, real mentors, and clear pathways to careers that will power New Jersey's future workforce," said Karnel Walker, Board Chair of the S2S Board of Trustees.
