Study.com Launches "Keys to College" to Help Save Students $1 Billion Towards the Cost of College Tuition
National initiative designed to provide pathways from college credit to degree completion
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Study.com, provider of an award-winning online platform for K-12 curriculum, college courses and test preparation, has introduced "Keys to College," a national initiative designed to help save students $1 billion in college tuition over the next five years. With college loan debt reaching an all-time high of $1.77 trillion in 2024(1) and more than 40 million American adults with some college but no credential,(2) Study.com is committed to providing a pathway to degree completion.
According to a Study.com survey conducted earlier this year, college debt remains the primary reason why students withdraw, impacting the growing number of Americans with student loans and no degree or credential. More than 75% of survey respondents under 35 years old report that debt is a significant factor to stopping out of college. Men and students of color are disproportionately represented among the some college, no degree population.(2)
"Education is the key to upward economic and social mobility, especially for historically underserved populations who are statistically less likely to complete their degree," explained Dana Bryson, SVP of Social Impact, Study.com. "As an organization, we recognize the systemic challenges inherent in our education system and strongly believe that education technology can be a bridge to help all learners reach their goals."
Since the introduction of Study.com's College Saver product, students have earned and transferred more than 470,000 college credits, saving them $475 million in tuition costs. Students gain access to more than 220 ACE-approved upper and lower division online courses for a monthly membership fee. Credits earned through College Saver transfer to 1,500 colleges and universities.
Study.com is working directly with higher education institutions and nonprofits to bring its "Keys to College" initiative to life in an effort to benefit the greatest number of students. Early partners of this program include University of Massachusetts Global, Educators Rising and Latinos for Education.
