New study reveals top 10 most popular destinations for international students

LONDON, Jan. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- StudyDestinations.com, an online education directory with over 28,000 listed institutions, today announced the latest study abroad trends, highlighting the top study abroad destinations around the world.

According to the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), over 5 million international students enrolled in higher education programs around the globe. "If we take into account those studying at other levels away from home we are talking about a substantial figure," said Gregor Schellhammer, CEO of StudyDestinations.com.

Other trends in education from the "Global Education Survey 2016" conducted by StudyDestinations.com show how most European students take a preference to study in Europe, whereas the majority of the students from the United States and Canada prefer to study in a different continent, with Europe on top of the lists and Asia in second.

The remainder of international students also took preference to Europe, suggesting that education in Europe entails a privilege that is to be aspired to.

"The only category that provided a different trend was those students looking for language schools, where the vast majority was keen on programs in South America or Asia."

Further findings from the Global Education Survey 2016 will be announced in June 2016.
