Overcome climate challenges

Climate adaptation was considered from the beginning of the project. Spain offers strong potential for lemon verbena cultivation, but working with the right agricultural model is essential.

"To support resilience, we have diversified cultivation across different farms and microclimates within the Valencia region," notes Durán Sanz. "This reduces reliance on a single location and gives us more flexibility across growing seasons. We have also implemented agronomic practices such as drip irrigation and soil-covering techniques to support water efficiency and help preserve soil moisture. In addition, we collaborate with specialized nurseries to ensure that plants arrive in the field in optimal condition." After harvesting, the leaves are carefully dried and handled under controlled conditions before moving into extraction and standardization of the active compounds. They are gently processed to preserve their phytochemical integrity, protecting the value built through years of cultivation.
