- Chrysler Museum of Art's Grand Reopening
The Chrysler Museum of Art will host the Rubber Duck Project by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman during the museum's grand reopening week on May 17. The 40-foot rubber duck will float in the waters of the Hague alongside the museum from May 17 through May 26, 2014.
- 13th Annual Virginia Beer Festival
Visitors can taste handcrafted microbrews and sophisticated beer from all over the world, with nearly three dozen domestic and international breweries participating in this popular event taking place May 17-18. This event is co-produced with the Virginia Arts Festival and Norfolk Festevents and takes place from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. Location: Town Point Park.
- 30th Annual Stockley Gardens Spring Arts Festival
The Stockley Gardens Spring Arts Festival includes live music provided by talented musicians, food from local restaurants, kid's activities and an art reception May 17-18. This exciting two-day outdoor party provides a great chance to have fun and mingle with both patrons and artists. Location: Stockley Gardens Park, Ghent.
- 28th Annual Greek Festival
The region's oldest and largest ethnic festival includes traditional Greek cuisine, exciting Greek entertainment, arts and crafts, beautiful jewelry and tours of the historic Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Festival hours are 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Sunday, noon to 7 p.m. All proceeds from the festival benefit the Cathedral's Ministries as well as local community charities. - Cirque Mechanics
Norfolk welcomes the famed Cirque Mechanics May 14-18 for a modern twist on the circus with original music, theatrical consumes and lighting. Visitors can come experience the self-contained, portable, theatrical circus spectacle full of contortion, Chinese poles and trapeze on a 22" high stage-like mechanical apparatus. Location: Festival Green Space, Downtown Norfolk.
