Suite101.com celebrates the new year (and a new site design) with contest for a new company tagline

Online magazine www.suite101.com invites submissions for taglines that describe the site, and offers prizes including $1000 cash for top taglines as selected by Suite101's community of 8,000 writers.

VANCOUVER , Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ - Suite101.com Media Inc., the Vancouver -based company that publishes Canada's largest online magazine at www.suite101.com, announced the launch of the Suite101.com Tagline Challenge (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XYTRJCM). Suite101 invites individuals to suggest creative taglines or phrases that help describe what Suite101.com is. Final taglines will be voted on by Suite101 writers and winners will receive prizes including USD $1000 .

With a new site redesign at www.suite101.com, the company is seeking a fresh way to describe the site, which is rapidly becoming one of the most respected curators of original articles and content online.

"We've been using 'The genuine article. Literally' as our tagline for years. With a recent site redesign we need a new tagline," explains Peter Berger , CEO and President of Suite101.com Media Inc. "Since we're a network of great writers we wanted to ask them - and the broader writing world - for suggestions."

Suite101.com seeks a tagline that communicates some or all of the following criteria:

Quality, Quality, Quality: We take pride in publishing great articles by skilled writers and think this sets us apart from other sites. Where else do you get guidance from a professional editorial team?

Open to All: Even if you don't think of yourself as a professional journalist - you may have the writing chops we're looking for. We need to tell experts, aficionados, pros and even students and novice writers: you're welcome to apply.

Friendly...but Selective: Our doors are open wide but we're picky too! Help us communicate that we welcome all applicants but only accept stellar writing submissions.

Descriptive: Our name "Suite101" doesn't scratch the surface of who we are. We need a tagline to help clarify. Are we a writers' network? An online publisher? A magazine? A content curator?

Tagline Challenge Details

The challenge opened January 1st, 2010 at 1:01pm (PST) and remains open until 11:59pm (PST) on January 31, 2010 . Individuals can submit up to three tagline ideas. Each tagline must be 40 characters or less in length, including spaces and punctuation. They need to be unique and original short phrases, sentences, or combination of words that describe all the greatness of what writers and readers can find at Suite101.com.

Final taglines will be voted on by Suite101.com's community of 8,000 writers in February. Winners will be based on which tagline receives the most votes. The top tagline will be featured prominently on the Suite101 homepage. The writer of the selected tagline will receive $1000 in cash and a prize pack of Suite101 gear emblazoned with the chosen tagline. The runner up tagline writer will receive an Amazon Kindle eReader. Winners will be announced in February.
