Summer Program for Kids Offers Tuition Refund Insurance
Exploration Summer Programs provides coverage for students who leave
NORWOOD, Mass., March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- With the economic recession placing a financial strain on many families, Exploration Summer Programs is offering automatic tuition refund insurance to every student to allow them to recover a portion of their cost if they need to withdraw from the summer enrichment program before course completion.
"Tuition insurance really has become something that parents need to add to their check list when choosing a summer program," said Moira Kelly, executive director of Exploration Summer Programs. "In this economy they really need to have some financial protection should their son or daughter withdraw early."
The Exploration Tuition Refund Plan, which is built into a student's tuition, is an acknowledgement by "Explo" officials that students sometimes leave the program for a variety of unforeseen reasons such as illness, accidents, homesickness and dismissal. The insurance provides families with some financial relief should that occur.
"For many families the cost of attending the program is a financial stretch and a big commitment," said Kelly. "We wanted to help them minimize the financial risk that something would happen that their children would not be able to complete the program and then they would be out of pocket."
Explo is a series of academic summer courses for students entering grades 4 through 12. It is run on the campuses of Wellesley College, Yale University and St. Mark's School in Southborough, MA, each year and offers kids activities and adventure outside the classroom with a focus on education. It opened in 1976 and has welcomed students from across the United States and more than 40 countries.
Exploration Summer Programs includes tuition insurance within the school's tuition. Every student is covered by the policy once they have arrived at the program. It provides for a partial tuition refund based on remaining days in a session at the time they leave. The plan does not provide coverage for any circumstance prior to the first day of the program session.
