CHICAGO, Aug. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, 55places.com announced the 55 Best 55+ Active Adult Communities for 2018. Topping the list this year is Sun City Hilton Head in Bluffton, South Carolina, followed by On Top of the World in Ocala, Florida and Sun City Shadow Hills in Indio, California.
To identify the best active adult communities in America for the past year, 55places.com carefully ranked each active adult community on this list based on internal data and resident feedback across categories such as location, residential types, amenities, price range, and lifestyle opportunities
For the second year in a row, Sun City Hilton Head tops the list as this age-restricted community remains one of the most highly acclaimed active adult communities in the country. Residents here enjoy the 45-acre Town Center and Amenity Complex, multiple sports courts, and 54 holes of golf. With more than 200 chartered clubs and interest groups, there is no shortage of things to do and fellow active adults to do them with.
Florida landed 17 communities on the list, including half of the Top 20. Arizona (nine), California (six), and Virginia (four) were the next most-popular states. In all, communities in 16 different states made the list, including ones in Colorado, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, and Washington.
