VINELAND, N.J., Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- This Columbus Day, Sun National Bank will close its 60+ locations early, and more than 500 of its employees will deploy across the state as they participate in the second annual Banking on Our Communities Day, performing volunteer projects for more than 50 non-profit partners.

For the second year in a row, Sun employees will join dozens of organizations including Goodwill, ARC, Habitat for Humanity and the American Red Cross in order to participate in a variety of projects for approximately four hours from 1 to 5 p.m. They will work on everything from painting projects, tutoring children, and helping senior citizens with yard work, among many other community development initiatives.

"Sun has a philosophy that doing business in the community means being a part of it," said Thomas X. Geisel, President and CEO of Sun National Bank.  "Our employees personally support a variety of organizations statewide through participation, donations, volunteerism and other support."

In addition to the more than 50 organizations that are supported on Sun's Banking on Our Communities Day, the bank has made contributions to more than 400 organizations statewide this past year.  The philanthropic gifts and outreach have provided needed support to a multitude of charitable needs such as arts and culture, community and economic development, environmental awareness, education and professional development organizations.

"Banking on our Communities Day reinforces and demonstrates Sun's brand promise as a local provider committed to the enrichment of our local communities, neighborhoods and customers," said Ed Malandro, EVP and Director of Retail Banking for Sun National Bank.
