Weight loss linked to greater workplace confidence, improved treatment by coworkers, and even raises and promotions
KIRKLAND, Wash., Oct. 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- A new report from Sunlight.com reveals that weight loss from GLP-1 medications is helping Americans gain more than just health benefits — it's transforming their professional and social lives. The October 2025 survey of 984 GLP-1 users found that 41% credit their weight loss with career advancement, including raises, promotions, or new opportunities.
The study shows 91% of working respondents say they feel more confident at work, while 64% report feeling more respected or included, and 52% say they receive more recognition from leadership. More than a third (36%) say they've been offered new career opportunities since losing weight.
Among those who received raises, 36% earned a 5% to 10% pay increase, 31% received an 11% to 15% raise, and 20% reported raises of 15% or more.
7 in 10 GLP-1 Users Say They're Treated Better Since Losing Weight
The impact of GLP-1 medications extends well beyond the workplace. Seven in ten users say they're treated better by at least one group of people since losing weight — including coworkers (39%), bosses (28%), friends (36%), and even family (37%). Nearly half (46%) say strangers treat them more positively, and 17% report being invited to more social events.
"People seem to be more comfortable around me now," one respondent wrote. "It's a startling difference. I see it in both friends and strangers; people now seem more at ease around me since losing the weight.."
Another said, "Since losing weight, people treat me with more respect and pay more attention to my opinions. Colleagues seem more willing to include me in discussions and value my input during meetings."
Single GLP-1 Users Report Getting More Romantic Attention
Among single GLP-1 users, 83% use dating apps, and 8 in 10 say they're getting more likes or matches since losing weight.
"Even in the early stages of weight loss with GLP-1 medication, patients often experience a renewed sense of hope after years of failed diet attempts," says Dr. Angela Tran, Medical Director at Sunlight.com. "That hope naturally fuels motivation to make healthier choices. Many go on to join gyms or rediscover activities they love. This self-renewal builds confidence that carries into their careers, relationships, and everyday lives."
9 in 10 GLP-1 Users Report an Improved Self-Image
The vast majority of users report improved self-perception since losing weight: 86% say their self-image has improved, and many describe feeling more comfortable (66%), confident (58%), attractive (45%), and capable (41%).
"Confidence is one of the most powerful outcomes of this transformation," says Dr. Tran. "With GLP-1 medications, many not only lose weight but also experience an internal shift. They start believing in their abilities, building stronger relationships, and handling challenges with a more positive mindset."
Methodology
Sunlight.com commissioned this survey, which was conducted via Pollfish in October 2025. It included 984 U.S. adults aged 18 and older who are current GLP-1 users and reported losing weight since beginning treatment. The margin of error is ±3 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
