The event was held at 10 a.m. this Saturday, September 29, at MacArthur Park in downtown Los Angeles. The event featured hundreds of veterans, United States Marine Corps Band (Third Aircraft Wing, Miramar), a flower ceremony at the MacArthur statue, and speeches by such luminaries as former commanding General B. B. Bell, UFC/UNC/USFK, Jung-Un Chan, former Primer Minister of the Republic of Korea, and Park Sung Choon, Minister of Patriot and Veterans Affairs.
The donation amount his company is making to the event pales in comparison to the sacrifices made by American veterans during the war.
"It is a great honor to pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives and served so honorably during the ruthless Korean War," Kwak said. "Many consider this to be the 'Forgotten War.' However, it is not forgotten by those who served. As a boy during the war I witnessed the horrors of war and came to realize how precious freedom is."
The US&Korea Alliance is a non-profit group dedicated to honoring American Korean War veterans and fostering better ties between the United States and the Republic of Korea and was founded by Dr. Chuck Rheem.
