LA CROSSE, Wis., Jan. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Supernal Software, a leading provider in cybersecurity assessment software, has released a major update for Scout, the company's online risk management program. The newest release introduces the Cybersecurity Lifecycle functionality, which allows a user to track progression during the cybersecurity assessment process. Thanks to version 2.0, users are no longer left wondering what they should do next because the Lifecycle functionality answers the question for them.

The newest release also helps identify gaps in users' cybersecurity practices. Maturity gaps are then addressed with the help of a detailed remediation plan. Version 2.0 adds even more features already found within the first release.

The FFIEC's free Cybersecurity Assessment tool was non-automated and simple to understand, but users found difficulty when it came to collaborate, assign tasks or share reporting. Supernal's customers asked how to use Scout to perform this assessment, and version 1.0 was released and followed the FFIEC guidance.

The first release gave risk managers a logical starting point. Step-by-step instructions, the ability to easily share progress and great reporting led to 40 percent of Supernal customers using the free online tool within the first week of its release.

"Our customers realize cybersecurity issues require solid strategy and execution. They asked for better tools so we built the initial online assessment. This latest round of updates is another example of them clearly sharing with us what they need," said Supernal president and CEO Peter Griffith.

The newest versions comes at a time when cybersecurity is no longer an IT-only concern. Threats are more common and vicious than before, causing the FFIEC to name cybersecurity threats one of the biggest issues facing banks and credit unions today.
