Daywitt, one of nine top executives, met with 23 aspiring international business owners through the 2010 PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS program, which is a business, leadership and public policy training program founded by Terry Neese and her non-profit organization, the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women.
Daywitt taught a class on storyboarding designed to help the participants implement a business plan. The group also had the opportunity for a one-on-one conversation with the SLM CEO through a series of round table discussions. Daywitt addressed international and domestic problems, as well as helping with direct marketing needs.
Daywitt says that that the same problems we face domestically are felt by young women entrepreneurs around the world. "To see the enthusiasm and feel the energy in the room is inspiring," Daywitt remarks, "At a time when world economic news seems to paint a gloomy picture, I was really impressed with the commitment and positive attitude of these students throughout the entire conference."
Daywitt is eager to support the PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS mission of empowering and educating women. SLM is proud to support the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women and the work it is doing for women around the world. Helping empower women business owners in war-torn parts of the world who are living in challenging cultures is a very real way of working toward that goal.
