Sutherland Adds Former Texas Principal Deputy Solicitor General to Austin Office

AUSTIN, Texas, May 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP announced today that Sean D. Jordan, previously the Principal Deputy Solicitor General in the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, has joined the firm as a partner in Sutherland's Austin Office and will co-lead the firm's Appellate Practice.

"Sean has more than 18 years of experience in complex civil litigation in both government service and private practice in Texas," said Mark D. Wasserman, Sutherland's managing partner. "His understanding of and insight into the litigation environment in Texas, at both the trial and appellate level, will immediately benefit our clients."

During Mr. Jordan's recent service in the Office of the Solicitor General of Texas, he represented the State of Texas, its agencies and officials in more than 40 appeals in federal and state courts. As the Principal Deputy Solicitor General, he also led a team of appellate lawyers charged with supervising all of the federal and state court appeals handled by the Texas Attorney General's Office. Before joining the Attorney General's Office, Mr. Jordan handled appellate cases and complex civil litigation in private practice for 10 years. He is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law.

Mr. Jordan joins Sutherland's Texas-based litigation team that includes Judge Kent C. Sullivan, former justice for the Texas Court of Appeals in Houston, First Assistant Attorney General and a District Judge.
