Sutherland Launches Texas openCourts Mobile App

Sutherland Asbill & Brennan launches Texas openCourts app.

AUSTIN, Texas and HOUSTON, Nov. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP announced today the launch of its Texas openCourts mobile app, the only free app to provide extensive user-friendly information on Texas courts.

Texas openCourts features detailed information on federal and state district civil courts, and state appellate courts. Easy-to-use functionality allows users to access the information through interactive maps or to search by using the name of a judge, a court or a location.

"Our app provides profiles of Texas' civil court judges, court contact information and local rules for federal judges," said David A. Baay, a partner and co-head of the energy litigation section in Sutherland's Houston office who helped advise the app's designers. "Our goal was to develop an easy-to-navigate smartphone tool for litigators in Texas to use on a daily basis."

The app enables users to collect helpful information, place it into a "Briefcase" folder, and then share that data via email with one click. A "Favorites" section also is available for storing frequently needed content.

Sutherland opened its Houston office in 2002 and has established a powerful presence in Texas with an emphasis on serving energy clients.

The Texas openCourts app is available through the Apple App Store, Google Play and the Amazon Appstore.
