SVA Architects, Inc. Awarded Four 'Merit' Gold Nuggets
SVA Receives Four Honors in Nation's Largest Competition of Its Kind
SANTA ANA, Calif., June 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On a streak of tremendous growth and success, SVA Architects, Inc. (SVA) has earned four 2015 Gold Nugget Awards of Merit for three different projects. Sponsored by PCBC®, the annual Gold Nugget Awards competition recognizes architectural design and planning excellence. The nation's largest competition of its kind, winners this year were chosen from over 600 entries from throughout the United States and internationally. Grand Awards in each category will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on June 25, 2015 at the San Diego Convention Center.
Honored in the Special Use Category, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Performing Arts Center is located at El Dorado High School in Placentia. SVA designed this project as a multi-use concert hall and theater venue to host performances from the student population as well as choirs, concerts, and other productions from groups within the PYLUSD community.
Also recognized in the Special Use Category is the SVA-designed La Escuelita Education Center for Oakland Unified School District (OUSD). This inner-city, mixed-use learning complex includes a K-5 elementary school, a program-based high school, a child development center, a studio for KDOL TV station, and a community health clinic. The sustainable facility creates minimal environmental impact and its numerous conservation features provide rich learning opportunities for students.
The Ramble at UC Davis West Village is in both the Best Campus Housing category and the Sustainable Residential Community category. The Ramble is comprised of 372 units for university students. As a key component of the largest Zero Net Energy development of its kind, The Ramble is designed to use a minimum of 50 percent less energy than traditionally-constructed buildings.
