SVA Architects, Inc. Wins Coveted Gold Nugget Grand Award

SANTA ANA, Calif., July 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Judges for the 2015 Gold Nugget Awards have named SVA Architects, Inc. a Grand Award winner for its outstanding design of The Ramble at UC Davis West Village.  Now in its 52nd year, the Gold Nugget Awards is the nation's largest and most prestigious annual competition which recognizes architectural design and planning excellence.  This year's competition drew 635 entries from around the world.  Chosen from the elite pool of Merit Award winners, Grand Awards were announced on June 25 as a highlight of PCBC®, the nation's largest regional conference and trade show for real estate development.

Winner of the Gold Nugget Grand Award in the Best Campus Housing category, The Ramble at UC Davis West Village is comprised of 372 apartments and townhomes for university students.  As a key component of this Zero Net Energy development, the LEED Platinum Ramble is designed to use a minimum of 50 percent less energy than traditionally-constructed buildings. Robert Simons, AIA, President of SVA Architects, explains, "The Ramble works both sides of the energy equation by reducing energy demand while simultaneously converting solar rays into energy for powering the community.
