Symphony Village Sneakers Honored by Local School
CENTREVILLE, Md., July 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Sneakers, a volunteer group of Symphony Village residents, was recently honored by a Centreville elementary school, according to Jeff Caruso, president of Caruso Homes, Crofton, MD. Symphony Village is an active adult community in Centreville.
According to Caruso, Sneakers hosts an annual silent auction with proceeds going to benefit area students. "This is their fifth year of hard work to help area students and it's really awesome to see Sneakers honored in this way," he said.
Recently students and PTA members of the Kennard Elementary School, Centreville, said "thank you" to Sneakers by planting a crepe myrtle tree near the Symphony Village Clubhouse, a focal point of the community, and presenting them with an oak sign painted with "Thank You".
Following the fall 2010 silent auction, Sneakers gave four $500 scholarships to Queen Ann's County High school students, helped Centreville Middle School students participate in the school's outdoor education program, gave books to Kennard students and supported the positive behavior program at Centreville Elementary.
