synthesis - War on Education - The D.T.s

SEATTLE, Dec. 31, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was published on December 28, 2010, by Shafeen Charania, author of the synthesis blog, winner of the 2008 Weblog award for best new blog, and's 25 best blogs of 2009.

The most significant acts of Congress in the last few decades have been war declarations – first drugs, then terror, what's next?

With an increasingly polarized electorate combined with equally polarized candidates, the extreme right (conservative, pro-religion, pro-guns, pro-military, anti-abortion, anti-homosexual, anti-socialism, etc.) is stronger than ever. They advocate family values, and want to see America restored to its "rightful path."

A Congress intent on "making an impact" might well declare war on public schools, give parents vouchers, provoking a "free market education system," and then incenting faith-based school choices in the hopes of returning to "the good old days."

How long will it take us to detox from this war?
