With an estimated 100,000 attendees, a 2-year planning process and costs up to $10 million, the Super Bowl XLV has been designated a National Special Security Event by the United States Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security.  NORAD fighter jets, snipers, chemical and biological detection devices, and bomb-retrieving robots are among the many security measures taken throughout the event.
