The Mosquito Preventer uses two non-toxic mosquito lures to attract female mosquitoes to the artificial pond. It features two landing strips that replicate pond greenery – where mosquitoes often lay their eggs – and has a UV light that turns on to mimic dusk and dawn, when mosquitoes are most active. After the mosquitoes lay their eggs, they also leave behind a natural pheromone that attracts other female mosquitoes. In combination with the lures, this lets the unit collect up to 5x more eggs than a natural breeding ground. Every three days, the eggs and attractants pass through a filter that destroys the eggs. The mosquitoes' pheromones and GreenStrike lures are then recycled back into the artificial pond, ready to capture more mosquito eggs.
