Talladega Superspeedway Joins Drive to End Hunger, Donates Food Items to Local Food Banks

TALLADEGA, Ala., April 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Drive to End Hunger and Talladega Superspeedway today announced that, on behalf of DTEH, Americrown, Talladega's food and beverage concessions operator, has donated its extra food items from the Aaron's Dream Weekend to the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama.

Drive to End Hunger is AARP and AARP Foundation's national effort to end hunger for older Americans.  Donations included breads, produce and other food items.

"This commitment is a huge opportunity to help people who are struggling with hunger in the communities around the racetrack," AARP Foundation President Jo Ann Jenkins said.  "Fifty-one million Americans struggle with hunger and six million of them are over 60.  This is a problem that if we all work together, we can solve.  We're really thrilled that Talladega has joined us in this important fight."
