TROY, Mich., Aug. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Talmer Bancorp, Inc. and Talmer Bank and Trust Boards are pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer M. Granholm as board member, effective immediately.

Granholm brings a wealth of knowledge and more than 25 years of executive leadership experience.  As former Attorney General for the State of Michigan and Governor of the State of Michigan, she led the nation's 8^th largest state with a $45 billion budget and over 50,000 employees. Granholm is currently a distinguished practitioner of Law and Public Policy at UC Berkeley, as well as a national speaker for Keppler Speakers Bureau.

Granholm serves on a variety of boards, including the Board of Directors for Fincantieri/Marinette Marine shipbuilding, a subsidiary of one of Europe's largest shipbuilders based in Michigan. She previously served on the Board of Directors for Dow Chemical Company and a Senior Advisor to Pew Charitable Trusts Clean Energy Campaign in 2011. Since 2008 she has held national leadership positions that include the Bipartisan Policy Center Commission on Political Reform, Center for American Progress Inclusive Prosperity Commission, Chair of the Midwestern Governors Association, Commissioner of the Great Lakes Commission, Co-Chair of the Economic Development Committee of the National Governors Association and a Board member for Achieve, an education business/government partnership ensuring that states adopt common core standards for high schools. 

Granholm holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and French with Highest Honors from University of California, Berkeley, and J.D. from Harvard Law School graduating Cum Laude, as well as Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Civil Rights/Civil Liberties Law Review.  She holds honorary Doctor of Laws Degrees from the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Wayne State University and Marygrove College.
