Tarzana Dermatologist, Dr. Peyman Ghasri, is Now Offering Sclerotherapy
TARZANA, Calif., Dec. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Tarzana dermatologist, Dr. Peyman Ghasri, now offers sclerotherapy to patients suffering from spider veins. Sclerotherapy, a procedure that involves injecting a chemical called sclerosant into varicose veins, is a fast way to permanently improve the appearance of legs and other areas commonly afflicted with this condition. In addition to the cosmetic benefits of sclerotherapy, patients receive relief from the pain and itching of varicose veins when they undergo this procedure. This treatment is relatively painless and is effective for a majority of patients.
Dr. Peyman Ghasri can treat one or several veins in a single varicose vein treatment session. Use of local anesthesia prevents patients from suffering significant discomfort during the injections. However, patients may experience slight cramping sensations with each injection as the sclerosant starts working. After a sclerotherapy session, patients can expect to see results develop for up to eight weeks, at which time additional sessions may be scheduled for further improvement. Patients can drive themselves home after the procedure and should wear compression stockings to aid fading of treated veins. Although patients on birth control can receive sclerotherapy, patients who are bedridden, pregnant or breastfeeding may not be candidates for this procedure.
Varicose veins and spider veins often result from dysfunction of valves that control blood flow in the veins. Heredity, pregnancy, hormonal factors and extended periods of time spent standing or sitting can also contribute to these conditions. Although varicose veins and spider veins are most commonly found on the legs, they can also appear on other parts of the body, such as the arms, hands and abdomen. Both men and women can suffer from varicose veins and spider veins. Learn more at http://www.castlederm.com.
