CHANTILLY, Va., Nov. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- TASC, Inc. has named retired U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. David Cotton vice president of Cyber. In this role, Cotton will lead the continuous development of TASC's cyber capabilities for all customers as well as drive cyber-related business growth across the company.

Before joining TASC, Cotton served in the Air Force for more than 29 years, most recently as director of cyberspace operations. During his tenure, he transformed a 44,000-person telecommunications and information technology workforce into a cyber workforce. Immediately after the terrorist attacks of 9/11, Cotton was responsible for the enhancement of the operations center used for the command and control of multinational air forces conducting operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. He oversaw the Air Force information assurance program and directed Air Force efforts to develop IT cost-saving efficiencies. As director of communications for the European Command, Cotton directed the planning and execution of two U.S. and NATO interoperability demonstration exercises for cyber that involved participants from 40 nations.
Cotton earned a B.S. in computer science at Iowa State University, M.A. in computer data and personnel management at Webster University and M.A. in strategic studies at the U.S. Air Force Air War College.
