Teamsters Overwhelmingly Ratify New Five-Year Agreement Ending Ten-Week Strike

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Teamsters Local 631 members who work at Rinker Hydro Conduit (CEMEX) overwhelming ratified a new five-year collective bargaining agreement on Monday, January 23, 2017 ending a ten-week strike. Members will return to work January 25, 2017. Members of Teamsters Local 631 who work at Rinker Hydro Conduit, which is owned by CEMEX, had been on strike since November 15, 2016.

Both sides reached a tentative agreement early on Saturday, January 21, 2017. The members overwhelmingly ratified the new collective bargaining agreement by a vote of 62-1 at the offices of Teamsters Local 631 ending the ten-week strike.

"We are happy that both sides could finally come to an agreement," said Tommy Blitsch, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 631. "I am ecstatic that the agreement was approved by such a wide margin. Our members are eager to go back to work and put this strike behind them. I am truly proud of each one of these members who stood strong and fought for what they believed in."

The new five-year collective bargaining agreement provides members with yearly wage and pension increases. Health care coverage for the employees and their families is also included. The total increases in the agreement are double what members received in their last agreement.
