Tektronix Helps Transvision Ensure Picture and Audio Quality For Viewers

BEAVERTON, Ore., June 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Tektronix, the leader in broadcast video test, monitoring and analysis solutions, announced that Transvision, the leading broadcasting and TV service provider in Indonesia, has selected Tektronix's award-winning Sentry video quality monitor to perform channel content monitoring, analysis and recording to help ensure its viewers receive exceptional quality of its broadcast programming.

Before selecting Sentry, Transvision performed a detailed evaluation of several industry solutions and selected the Tektronix Sentry solution because it can more fully assure subscribers the best viewing experience and it can detect whether the content is compliant to compression techniques and transmissions.

In addition, Sentry's advanced quality of experience (QoE) capability is another reason Transvision selected the Tektronix solution. This function analyzes the MPEG packets and checks for structural errors causing picture and audio defects. Each defect will be evaluated based on severity combined with the frequency, size and the location of the defect on the viewer's screen. Moreover Sentry's unique perceptual video quality (PVQ) capability uses advanced evaluation algorithms based on eMOS (effective mean opinion scores) to allow Transvision to be fully aware of the picture quality for all 148 channels of programming and can detect QoE issues such as frozen video, tiling/macro-blocking, audio disruptions and other defects due to compression issues.
