Telkonet, Inc. Expands in Brazil with Its EcoSmart Energy Management Technology Installation for Five-Star Hotel

MILWAUKEE, Aug. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Telkonet, Inc., (OTCQB: TKOI), whose business divisions include EcoSmart™, an energy management technology platform featuring Recovery Time™ technology, and EthoStream®, one of the largest hospitality High-Speed Internet Access providers in the world, is pleased to announce its EcoSmart Technology has been selected for installation in the five-star Hilton Barra in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  The EcoSmart system will be installed in 298 guest rooms.  The EcoSmart energy management system was chosen for this [new] hotel build-out because of its ability to reduce energy consumption and equipment runtime by up to 45% while maintaining guests' comfort.  The installation covers all of the hotel's 298 guest rooms [and all lobby and conference areas and meeting space].

The growing demand and increasing cost for energy raises concerns in social, economic and environmental fields, especially in developing countries. Economic growth, in countries such as Brazil, indicates projected strong growth in energy consumption.

The Hilton Barra, Rio de Janeiro is the first, newly constructed property for Hilton Hotels & Resorts in Latin America. The hotel includes 14,000 square feet of meeting space as well as other high-end amenities.  Additionally, the Hilton Barra will be a sponsored hotel for travelers all around the world attending the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.  The hotel is located in close proximity to the planned Olympic Park.  The Hilton Barra will open in November, 2014.
