LOS ANGELES, Sept. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Ten Thousand Islands, a UK-based footwear company, announced today the launch of its Kickstarter campaign for Freestate, a first-of-its-kind travel and resort shoe. The 30-day campaign launches at 8 a.m. PDT on Tuesday, September 18. Funds raised will be used to expand and expedite current production of the shoe for delivery by the first quarter of 2019. Early backers of the Kickstarter campaign can secure one pair of Freestate shoes, free worldwide shipping and two pairs of laces, starting at $79.

Ten Thousand Islands' team of industry professionals, who collectively bring over 50 years of footwear experience to the organization, have been working on the concept and design for nearly 2 years. Dedicated to superior comfort and sleek design, Ten Thousand Islands created Freestate to fill a gap in the current footwear market – the lack of a resort shoe option that can be worn in and out of the water while remaining stylish, yet functional.

The shoes are designed to offer maximum comfort in a lightweight, multi-purpose design. In addition, the Freestate was developed with the traveler in mind, taking into consideration all aspects that make travel easier – weight, comfort, water resistance, breathability and look. Freestate weighs less than 8 ounces by using a uniquely-molded upper outer skeleton upon a breathable mesh, combined with an ultra-lightweight sole material. By replacing a regular heel with soft brushed elastic and a cushioned removable water draining footbed, Freestate offers maximum comfort – with or without socks – while navigating any resort adventure.

The Ten Thousand Islands team knew the importance of creating a travel shoe with quick-drying materials, especially when targeting frequent travelers who spend most of their time near water. The breathable mesh, unique tongue and "Freeflow" lining system used in the shoe allows for maximum air flow and water movement from inside and outside the shoe.
