Texas Instruments issues 2009 Corporate Citizenship Report

DALLAS, June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments (TI) released its fourth-annual corporate citizenship report (CCR) today, detailing the company's 2009 social responsibility and environmental performance and goals. The complete report, "Building a Better Future," underscores the company's continued commitment to stellar citizenship and transparency in operations. It is available online at www.ti.com/ccr.

A companion to TI's 2009 Annual Report of financial performance, the Web-based citizenship report is used by a variety of stakeholders, including customers, analysts and shareholders, to understand TI's social and environmental performance as well as future risks and opportunities.

Some of TI's 2009 citizenship successes noted in the report include:

• Opening of solar and LED lighting laboratories to find new ways of using semiconductors to reduce the world's energy consumption;
• Prevention of 22,000 metric tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere through new energy-efficiency projects, helping reduce TI's carbon footprint;
• Reduction of health care costs for employees through a personalized health management program and consistent benefits;
• Startup of operations in two new LEED-certified facilities – one in the U.S. and one in the Philippines;
• Contributions of nearly $19 million to support community, cultural and education initiatives; and
• Funding of university programs to increase the number of math and science teachers.
