Texas Jury Awards $21M Verdict Against Hughes Network Systems for Patent Infringement

MARSHALL, Texas, Aug. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- An East Texas jury has awarded $21.1 million in damages to Elbit Systems Ltd. after finding that Hughes Network Systems, LLC infringed one of its groundbreaking patents related to high-speed satellite communications.

The jury also determined the patent is valid in the verdict it delivered on Aug. 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas Marshall Division.

Based in Israel, Elbit Systems is an international high technology company engaged in a wide range of defense, homeland security, and commercial programs throughout the world. U.S. Patent No. 6,240,073 is owned by Elbit Systems subsidiary, Elbit Systems Land &C4I Ltd, and exclusively licensed to Elbit Systems of America, LLC, both of which were plaintiffs in the lawsuit.
