The Airway Company Launches Revolutionary New Speaking Valve And Heat Moisture Exchanger

BALTIMORE, Nov. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Airway Company, an emerging provider of innovative tracheostomy products, announces the launch of the Shikani Speaking Valve and the Shikani Heat Moisture Exchanger, two new products that can be used in unison so tracheostomy patients no longer have to choose between the benefits of speech and respiratory health.

The new Shikani Speaking Valve features a flexible, two-way design that allows patients to choose how airflow is directed into the upper airway.  When using the valve in the "bias closed" position, every breath is directed into the upper airway. For patients who can't traditionally tolerate a speaking valve, using the valve in the "bias open" position is ideal. 

Acting as an "artificial nose," the Shikani HME regulates heat and moisture levels for a more consistent environment.  The Shikani HME also provides the particle filtration that is traditionally lost with a tracheostomy tube.

The Airway Company will be unveiling these new products at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Annual Convention (Booth #1744) being held at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL, November 14-16, 2013. The Airway Company will also conduct a Learning Lab on Friday, November 15^th from 11:30 am – 12:15 pm CST.
