SEOUL, South Korea, March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- SK Broadband, a leading integrated communications company in South Korea, deployed the ARRIS E6000™ Converged Edge Router (CER) from ARRIS Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARRS) in early 2014, which has now enabled the first 1Gbps broadband service in Asia Pacific. This milestone means SK Broadband is an industry leader by delivering one of the fastest broadband speeds anywhere in the world.
The ARRIS E6000 CER, a Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP) was first introduced in 2013 and is now deployed at the world's leading cable operators, providing incredible capacity, density, and reliability. The success of the ARRIS E6000 CER has been pivotal for SK Broadband to reach landmark broadband speeds, and also enabling further innovations such as the world's first 4K (UHD upscaling) TV service, announced in August 2014.
The bandwidth needed to support the demand for video and multimedia services in South Korea continues to grow at exponential rates, and the number of connected devices is growing even faster. SK Broadband serves 2.6M customers with its IPTV service, growing by 189,000 customers in Q3 last year. The ARRIS E6000 CER has played a pivotal role in delivering these next generation services.
