Car Review Site Names a Field of 17 Nominees Using Unique "Meta Reviews" and Ratings - Winner To be Announced December 10
PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Car Connection, the easiest place to research and shop for cars online, announced today its nominees for its end of the year car award, the "Best Car to Buy 2013." The 2013 winner will be announced December 10, 2012, from the list of nominees.
The winning vehicle will be named by the The Car Connection's editors from among the field of more than 30 eligible vehicles, and 17 nominees. The winner will be determined by the rankings assigned in the site's unique "meta reviews," which combine reviews by staff journalists with opinions gathered from around the Web – all presented together with a simple rating.
The Car Connection is part of automotive media company High Gear Media. The company's other web sites, Motor Authority and Green Car Reports, are also nominating vehicles for awards of their own, with winners to be announced the same day.
"Our Best Car to Buy award put our ratings to their best and highest use," said Marty Padgett, editorial director. "We want to highlight the single new vehicle we think every car shopper should consider before they purchase their next car."
To narrow the field for the award, editors set a base-price limit of $50,000, to place the focus on mainstream vehicles and to put an emphasis on value. Editors also require that vehicles are made available for a road test before December 1, 2012, and are available for purchase by April 30, 2013.
The vehicles that remain are ranked by their overall numeric score, as assigned by The Car Connection's editors. The highest-rated vehicle becomes the Best Car To Buy, with ties being resolved by editors who consider other factors including -- but not limited to -- availability and significance.
