The CementBloc taps into an unmet need and creates another industry first: The "Caregivers Speak Up" Social Platform

NEW YORK, June 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 1 in 10 adults is a caregiver for someone requiring assistance with personal care or basic activities of daily living. Until now, caregivers have had no platform to share their stories so that others may benefit. The social platform, CaregiversSpeakUp.com is dedicated to giving a voice to caregivers, who play a vital yet often overlooked role in today's healthcare system.
The CementBloc held a premiere screening of its feature-length documentary on caregivers to celebrate the launch of its unique social platform, CaregiversSpeakUp. The documentary profiles five caregivers speaking from the heart about the struggles and the triumphs of caring for a loved one. It also focuses on the various stages of caregiving.
The documentary is available for viewing at CaregiversSpeakUp.com. Visitors to the site are invited to upload videos, up to 3 minutes in length, to allow them to pass on to others how they coped, what they learned, and how caring can sometimes bring meaning.
As part of the CaregiversSpeakUp initiative, a Facebook page and Twitter feed have gone live. The immediate response underscored the need for a forum to share experiences. One caregiver posted, "To all caregivers…this can strain, stress and leave you needing care -- it should be a joint effort not by one family member but all, taking turns." Another said, "I've done that -- it's an honor, never a burden. The stories need to be shared!"
