The Event highlights:

The event will be anchored by an exhibit displayed in the club's Peacock Alley entitled "Fashion and The Automobile: An Exhibit In 10 Eras." Using original vintage clothing and automotive art, the unique exhibit will provide an entertaining look at how the past ten decades of clothing and automotive design have served as the inspiration for present-day clothing fashions.
The exhibit journey will begin in the 1800's with the dawn of the automobile and Christopher Columbus Smith (Chris Craft)'s first boat. Guests will encounter intriguing fashion U-turns as they go through the decades as "what's old becomes new again". A luncheon at noon, with live entertainment by "Barry Alan presents 'Dean & Frank'", and a cash bar will be held in the clubhouse's elegant ballroom, followed by a runway fashion show at 1 pm.
"Our goal is to tell an exciting and fun story of how past design trends have influenced current fashion, demonstrated through both the vintage exhibit of clothing and automotive art, and our runway fashion show," said Patty Schmitz, Event Chairperson and First Lady of the Detroit Yacht Club. "Working together with our sponsors and vendors, we've created an exciting and unusual event that allows our guests to experience the evolution of fashion design by referencing our own community's unrivaled automotive history, and the DYC's own boating heritage. April 6 will be a fun and informative day of great fashion, food, shopping, and prizes while we celebrate fashion, design and our own region's history. We hope all with a love of fashion and history will join us."
The DYC will host more than 20 specialty vintage shops, boutiques, jewelry artisans, and more in its beautiful Fountain Room, providing shopping opportunities from 11:00am – 4:00pm continuous.
Open to the public, advance registration for the luncheon and fashion show is required by March 25, 2013 at $45 per person. No tickets will be available at the door unless prior arrangements have been made. Registration may be made by calling the club reception desk at 313-824-1200, or through www.dyc.com for DYC members.
