The Following is a Statement from Harry Blustein III, C.E.O. of Custom Crushing & Materials, Inc. - 'Big Business Tries To Take Advantage of The Little Guy Again'
BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y., March 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Regarding CASE NO: 10-59275-CA 01 (22) Filed November 10, 2010, In the Circuit Court of the 11th Judicial Circuit in and for Miami-Dade County, Florida: "In December 2009, we were weathering the economic storm like most other construction companies in New York and Florida. We had been offered crushing work in many different places around the globe; however, declined," said Harry Blustein III, President of Custom Crushing and Materials, Inc. www.ccmcrush.com. "We had even declined work in Panama the year before. But this was a different opportunity. A chance to work for MasTec, Inc. (NYSE: MTZ), allegedly known throughout South Florida as the pinnacle of Cuban American Business success stories. A meeting was arranged with Jose Mas, CEO of MasTec, Inc. and son of the legendary Jorge Mas Canosa," added Blustein.
"I was assured that there were detailed geological studies revealing millions of tons of material; that access to the quarry would not be a problem; and most importantly, that 10 million tons of material had already been sold. Jose assured me that MasTec, Inc. would be backing the endeavor and money was not a problem. However, he (Jose) wanted to do the work through GlobeTec Construction, a 100% wholly owned subsidiary of MasTec, Inc. I was impressed by his assertiveness and his clout. I trusted Jose Mas, and pulled valuable equipment off paying jobs and shipped them to Panama. This would turn out to be the biggest mistake of my life! A successful business relationship is built on mutual understanding and communication. We feel we were completely betrayed. This has been an injustice," concluded Harry Blustein III.
