The Food Movement Partners with Second Helpings Atlanta, Inc. to Help Feed the Hungry

ATLANTA, Oct. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Food Movement, Atlanta's premier mobile food company, is partnering with Second Helpings Atlanta to offer food for Atlanta's hungry and needy citizens. The Food Movement manages 12 of Atlanta's most popular food trucks and regularly hosts culinary team building and other events at its event facility in Dunwoody. As a result of all of its culinary activities, The Food Movement frequently creates more food than can be sold or used. Until now, that food has been going to waste.

That's where Second Helpings Atlanta comes in.

A 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, Second Helpings Atlanta rescues and distributes nutritious food from various sources and delivers it seven days a week free of charge to feed the hungry programs, food pantries, and shelters throughout metro Atlanta. Among the recipients are: Atlanta Hospital Hospitality House, Atlanta Mission, Church on the Street, Community Assistance Center of Sandy Springs and Dunwoody, Family Life Restoration Center, Lutheran Community Food Ministry, Malachi's Storehouse at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry and many others.

Since its inception in 2004, Second Helpings Atlanta has rescued and distributed more than 2,700,000 pounds of food. In 2012, Second Helpings Atlanta rescued and distributed more than half a million pounds of food and non-grocery items.
