RIVERSIDE, Calif., Nov. 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- With the opening of its Health and Wellness Center, MFI Recovery Center seeks to provide Whole Person Health Care for its clients, thereby moving the region one step closer to true integrated healthcare as a standard of care. Thanks to an Innovative and Pioneering partnership with Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP), MFI Recovery Center is pleased to be able to provide these services.
Evidence shows that a significant number of behavioral health conditions go undiagnosed, and therefore untreated. Often due to the stigma associated with mental health, patients don't seek help and resist discussing symptoms with their physicians, leading to a lack of detection. Once diagnosed, there may be a lack of access to effective care.
Behavioral health problems such as depression, anxiety, alcohol or substance abuse are among the most common and disabling health conditions worldwide. They often co-occur with chronic medical diseases and can substantially worsen associated health outcomes. When behavioral health problems are not effectively treated, they can impair adherence to prescribed medical and mental health treatments leading to poor health outcomes and increased mortality. Untreated behavioral health problems can lead to decreased work productivity and substantial increases in overall health care costs. For example, Medicaid patients with major depression in addition to a chronic medical condition such as diabetes have more than twice the overall health care costs than those without depression.
