The Giving Paw Launches Gift Registry for Pets
MONTCLAIR, N.J., Feb. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Neely Raffellini is alarmed by the number of pets that cannot be cared for properly due to their owner's inability to pay for vet care, food, grooming and other essential pet products and services.
Some of these pets end up in shelters, where they could very well be euthanized. In this struggling economy, shelters are overrun with pets that are there because their owners cannot afford to take care of them.
She just launched a new website (http://www.thegivingpaw.com) that may be one of the only gift registries in the world where pet owners can register for pet-related products and services, send their registry links to family and friends, and accept online gift payments via PayPal.
The Montclair, N.J. woman owns a beloved 11-year-old Boxer named Colt, and she estimates she has spent more than $20,000 on healthcare, food and other pet products and services.
"Our mission with The Giving Paw is to simplify gift giving as well as to reduce the number of animals who are abandoned and euthanized each year by encouraging pet owners to plan for their future veterinary care and other needs," Raffellini said.
The Giving Paw is similar to a wedding or baby gift registry. Pet owners can register their pets, create a wish list, send links to families and friends, post the links on social media pages, and accept gifts via PayPal.
The Giving Paw will donate monthly to different animal-related causes and charities. Members are welcome to submit ideas for worthy causes and organizations.
