The IAE Launches 1st Sustainable Creativity Artist Competition
CHICAGO, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In memory of Lea Argiris, the mother of the founder of The Institute for Arts Entrepreneurship, The IAE has launched the 1st Sustainable Artist Competition Saturday, October 9th at Flourish Studios, 3020 N Lincoln Avenue, Chicago. "Lea's talents as an artist were enormous, yet she was never able to sustain her creativity in a way that gave her the rudder she needed to live a happy, successful, meaningful, creative life," says Lisa Canning, founder of The Institute for Arts Entrepreneurship. "In her honor, the artists who enter our competition will incorporate the beautiful designer clothes she left behind in the art they will create."
Over $100,000 of designer clothes is being offered as art material. Items include jackets, pants, skirts, belts and scarves from Gucci, DKNY, Channel, Christian Dior, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent and more. All artists interested in participating must schedule an appointment between 10 am and 3 pm and bring a business card. http://sustainablecreativity.eventbrite.com/
One grand prize winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship to attend the IAE's 2-year program. Second and third place winners will receive a $3,000 scholarship. Additionally, all participants' work will be auctioned off at a fundraiser for The IAE in the spring of 2011. All proceeds will be split 50/50 between artists and The IAE.
All entries must be delivered to Flourish Studios at 3020 N Lincoln Avenue, Chicago, no later than Tuesday, January 18, 2011, 5 pm. Participants will select competition designer clothing by appointment only on Saturday, October 9th, 10 am to 3 pm, Flourish Studios. Clothing can be previewed Thursday, October 7th from 7-9 pm, Flourish Studios, 3020 N Lincoln Avenue Chicago.
